WHAT YOU BREATHE IN
Review the commercial products in your home. At your local grocery store you’ll find there’s a natural alternative for just about everything on the market. And they are usually cost-effective, as natural products tend to be far more concentrated so you use much less. You can also check in the FAQ for our professional listing of Inner Circle members who can offer you solutions that we don’t provide such as non-toxic cleaning supplies like Norwex.
Here is a list of household products that you will want to change.
• Parrafin candles (alternatives can be bees wax candles or soy candles).
• Tub n tile cleaner
• Window cleaner
• Room deodorizers
THE FOOD YOU EAT
Commercially raised cattle and poultry are fed estrogen-like hormones as well as growth hormones that are passed onto humans when eaten. One half of all antibiotics in the United States are used in livestock. These antibiotics can contribute to hormone disruptor exposure. Feeds contain a myriad of hormone-disrupting toxins including pesticides, antibiotics and drugs to combat diseases in the animals.
Whenever possible, purchase certified organic meats or at least hormone and antibiotic free meats and poultry. Wild game is also a good choice. If your meat is not organic, trim fat from meat and skin from poultry and fish as that is where the toxins collect. Opt for wild fish, salmon especially, as farmed salmon will be fed pellets of fish meal with antibiotics and synthetic additives to obtain the pink colour the wild fish are known for.

Fruits and Vegetables
Approximately 5 billion pounds of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides are used on our commercially grown fruits and vegetables.
The 2012 Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce lists the following 12 foods as being the most contaminated.

“Green beans and leafy greens, meaning, kale and collard greens – that did not meet traditional Dirty Dozen ™criteria but were commonly contaminated with highly toxic organophosphate insecticides. These insecticides are toxic to the nervous system and have been largely removed from agriculture over the past decade. But they are not banned and still show up on some food crops.”

WHAT YOU CAN DO
When buying produce from the “highest in pesticides list”, buy organic. If you can’t, then peel the fruit or vegetable. If you can’t peel them, then wash them well with diluted vinegar. This will help to reduce pesticides on the surface. Needless to say, this will not help to get rid of the pesticides inside. Discard the outer leaves of leafy vegetables.
WHAT YOU COOK YOUR FOOD ON AND IN
Beware of Teflon and non-stick cookware.
The short version is this; Teflon pans have been found to release one or more of 15 different toxic gases when heated to above 390 degrees Fahrenheit. These gases can be fatal to pet birds and can cause flu-like symptoms such as chills, headache, fever and nausea in humans. Usually, symptoms subside within a few days, and chances are many people who have experienced it mistook it for the flu. However, there are also more serious risks.
One of the main chemicals used in the manufacturing process of Teflon and other non-stick pans is perf lurooctanoic acid (PFOA) also known as C-8. In 2005, an independent panel reporting to the Environmental Protection Agency declared PFOA a likely human carcinogen.
**By the way, PFOA is found in the lining of the bag of microwave popcorn. Please go back to the old fashioned way of popping pop corn, BUT remember to buy organic or you are getting genetically modified corn.
As soon as your Teflon cookware becomes scratched, replace it with stainless steel, enamel, porcelain or ceramic cookware. Avoid any raw uncoated aluminum cookware or really cheap stainless cookware as they will leech the wrong elements into your food.
If your Teflon cookware is in good condition you can continue to use it if you are careful. Use low-to-medium heat and do not allow food or oil to burn. Use silicone or wood utensils so that you do not scratch the surface.
This is a very long list of things to change to reduce your xenoestrogen exposure. Our advice is to start with the two changes below and over time gradually make more changes. Progress, not perfection!
For the biggest impact make these two changes first.
1. What you put on your skin (personal care and laundry products).
2. Do your best to make your house a plastic free environment and do NOT use plastic in the microwave or for your drinking water.
