The Scoop on Poop

This next step in “Brenda’s Back to The Basics” is designed to help you:

You know I am not into hype. If you want to know what nutritional course of action that can improve your health so dramatically, read on.

Bear with me because this is going to be a shi**y subject (pun intended). This newsletter is all about proper colon function, what it is, how important it is and how it can make or break your health.

Most people have below average to average bowel function but very few have proper bowel function.

THE ACTUAL DEFINITION OF *PROPER* BOWEL FUNCTION

*Every person should have at least 2-3 bowel movements per day (one per meal). You do not have to have a movement following each meal, you just must eliminate 2-3 times per day, which could all be in the morning, or could all be in the evening.

*There should be no stress or straining.

*The total stool length per movement should measure from the crease of your wrist to the bend of your elbow.

*The diameter should be the size of the circle you make by placing your pointer finger at the bend in your thumb.

*The stool should be light to medium brown in color, free of undigested food, non-odorous, and mostly floating.

ROTTING FECAL MATERIAL

Without proper elimination the food you should be eliminating stays in your colon and rots and decays. This rotting fecal material produces toxic chemicals which get trapped and can cause forms of indigestion such as

flatulence (farting)
burping
heartburn
bloating

TOXINS

Your intestines are designed to absorb nutrients, so along with the nutrients you also absorb the toxins into your bloodstream. Since your blood feeds the cells of your body, your blood then delivers these toxins to your cells, which can create a whole host of ailments anywhere in your body such as:

frequent headaches or migraines
general aches and pains that migrate from one place to another
joint pain
lowered resistance to infections
low energy
loss of vitality for no apparent cause
needing to sleep longer at night
insomnia

ESCAPING TOXINS

Toxins doing their best to escape through your skin can cause such skin problems as

rashes
boils
pimples
acne
eczema
psoriasis
hair loss
profuse sweating
excessively oily hair
dandruff

THE ODOR

The smell from the rotting fecal material can be the source of

foot or body odor
bad breath
foul smelling stool

ACCUMULATED PRESSURE

Old fecal material can accumulate putting pressure on various organs and structures in your body creating problems such as

low back pain
hernias
varicose veins
weak bladder
hemorrhoids
pain at ovulation

BULGING

The waste can collect inward to form what looks like a clogged drain or it can bulge outward, stretching the intestinal lining which can show up as a bloated or protruding abdomen.

The stretched intestinal lining loses all elasticity making it even more difficult to achieve proper elimination. This is why some people cannot improve their elimination no matter what positive lifestyle changes they make.

COLON ISSUES

Poor elimination is associated with outright colon problems such as

irritable bowel syndrome
constipation
recurring diarrhea
diverticulitis
colon cancer

COLON CANCER FACTS

423 Canadians, on average, are diagnosed with CRC every week
175 Canadians, on average, die of this disease every week

THE ASSOCIATION BETWEEN CONSTIPATION AND CANCER

Researchers theorize that chronic constipation may raise one’s risk of developing colorectal cancer for two reasons:

1. Chronic constipation may cause the number of carcinogens in the stool, (such as bile acids and other compounds), to become more concentrated.

2. Chronic constipation may result in these carcinogens being in contact with the cells lining the large intestine and rectum for longer periods of time.

LAXATIVES ARE NOT THE ANSWER

It is unknown if laxatives are partly responsible for the increased risk factor of people that suffer with constipation. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance to restore proper bowel function naturally.
