On behalf of Special Olympics BC – Kelowna, I want to thank Rutland Physical Therapy for your continued
Sponsorship of the Annual Golf Fundraiser Tournament. The event was very successful, we had a
great turn-out! Everyone had a great time golfing, and at the banquet. I want to thank you for
supporting this important Event and helping the us to raise over $49,000!
Special Olympics BC- Kelowna continues to flourish with over 200 athletes who register in one or
more of our 25 sport programs. Our sport programs provide athletic opportunities 11 months of
the year and are coached by trained volunteers.
This summer Kelowna is sending athletes to the Special Olympics Canada 2018 Games in Antigonish,
Nova Scotia. Our athletes are participating in swimming, bocce, golf, rhythmic gymnastics, softball, soccer,
and in track and field. Several of our coaches were also selected to attend a part of the B.C. Delegation.
We anticipate that our athletes will as always perform well and bring home medals. They will also have
the time of their lives as these games are always full of excitement, new friendships and comradery.
Special Olympics is central to so many of our athletes’ lives. It is where they learn sports, gain fitness,
build self-esteem but as importantly make friends and have a sense of community. In addition, to
advancing in their chosen sports, athletes of all ages have an opportunity to participate and experience inclusion
in sports.
Thank you again for your contribution to our annual Golf Tournament. It is the bedrock of our fundraising
efforts in support of these programs in the Central Okanagan (Peachland to Lake Country). Check out some
